Michael Hwang Awarded Business Person of the Year by Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Posted by Hwang & Company |
|
Each year the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce presents business excellence awards to outstanding businesses and individuals in the Tri-Cities. Michael Hwang of Hwang & Company was nominated to be one of three finalists for the Business Person of the Year award for 2007, and was awarded as the recipient of this prestigious award on January 26, 2007 at the Presidents’ Awards Gala.
The program for the ceremony described Michael’s contribution to the community as follows:
“Michael Hwang is a dedicated lawyer, businessman, community leader and volunteer. As one of the first Korean-Canadian lawyers in Western Canada, Michael recognizes his call and duty to provide much needed legal services and education to the community, particularly to the new immigrants from Korea. He also works tirelessly for many community groups, including SHARE Family & Community Services and the North Road Business Improvement Association. Responding to many divisive challenges faced by the North Road’s historic and multicultural business community, Michael helped to mobilize business and property owners along that corridor to partner with the cities of Coquitlam, and Burnaby, ICBC, Dept. of Highways, and the RCMP to improve safety, security, environment, and business”
Other nominees for this award were Ken Catton of Pacific Coast Terminals and Fred Soofi of Pasta Polo.
