Hwang & Company traces its beginning to November 1, 1991 when Michael Hwang and Cameron D. Pollock opened a small law office under the name Hwang, Pollock & Company at #201- 4075 Kingsway, Burnaby, B.C. They began with two old desks, two "386" computers with a dot matrix printer, a fax machine and one phone with a long extension cord. While the tools of the practice have been upgraded many times, their pioneering spirit, innovative ideas, tireless work ethic and selfless service remain as the four cornerstones of Hwang & Company.

Many talented and dedicated people have helped to establish Hwang & Company's reputation as the premier law firm for Korean immigrants and businesses in Western Canada. In turn, the firm has provided many summer practicum, articling and associate positions for lawyers now serving the community.
